Otolaryngology

Otolaryngology, also known as ENT, is a branch of medical care that covers diseases of three separate regions (ear, nose and throat) in the head and neck region and in general. ENT doctors run surgeries and interventions for symptoms of runny nose, earache, nervous throat, hearing loss, sinus sizes, tonsillitis, difficulty swallowing, sleep apnea and many more diseases.

ENT specialists use a range of methods to diagnose and treat diseases and disorders in the ear, nose and throat area. These include physical examination, imaging tests, laboratory tests, medication, and surgical interventions.

Nose Surgery

Nose surgeries are examined in two main groups as rhinoplasty and functional rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is a surgical intervention to change the shape and appearance of the nose. Functional nose surgery, on the other hand, is operations performed to improve nasal functions.

Throat Surgery

Throat surgeries are surgical procedures performed to solve the discomforts in the throat. Problems in the throat; may include snoring, shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing, hoarseness, reflux, and enlargement of the tonsils. Removal of the tonsils (tonsillectomy) is one of the most common throat surgeries. Tonsils enlarge due to infection, usually in children, and can cause symptoms such as difficulty breathing and swallowing.

Neck Surgery

Neck surgeries refer to surgical interventions performed in cases where the bones, nerves or muscles in the neck region are affected. The neck region is a complex structure located between the shoulder and head and contains important structures such as the spinal cord, nerves, blood vessels, muscles and glands. Neck surgeries are performed to treat ailments caused by different causes. These disorders include neck hernia, neck calcification, neck tumors, neck pain and neck fractures.
